What is Z-Wave?

Z-Wave is the international wireless protocol for communication in the Smart Home. This device is suited for use in the region mentioned in the Quickstart section.

Z-Wave ensures a reliable communication by reconfirming every message (two-way communication) and every mains powered node can act as a repeater for other nodes (meshed network) in case the receiver is not in direct wireless range of the transmitter.

This device and every other certified Z-Wave device can be used together with any other certified Z-Wave device regardless of brand and origin as long as both are suited for the same frequency range.

If a device supports secure communication it will communicate with other devices secure as long as this device provides the same or a higher level of security. Otherwise it will automatically turn into a lower level of security to maintain backward compatibility.

Product Description

Smart air purifier for mid-sized rooms.
The purifier’s per­formance allows it to clean air in rooms up to 25 m² in size while removing kitchen and cigarette odors as well as eliminating viruses and bacteria. In addition, you can easily manage all settings via an app which is available in English for both iOS and Android.

UV Light.
The use of a cold cathode ultraviolet lamp with a wavelength of 253.7 nm can effectively kill a variety of common bacteria, viruses and inhibit the reproduction and production of bacteria and viruses.

Ionization.
The negative ion generator produces a large number of negative ions, eliminates odors, has a strong absorption capability. The negative ion will make bacteria lose their activity and make them harmless. Negative ions also make the air feel fresh, just like after the rain.

Activated Carbon Filter.
The carbon filter is very effective in absorption of volatile organic compounds, including unpleasant smells and many kinds of polluting gases.

Photocatalyst Filter.
TiO2 in the photocatalyst filter has a strong photo-catalytic function under the UV light. It further degrades formaldehyde, toluene, xylene, TVOC, and other pollutants.

HEPA Filter.
HEPA is an acronym that stands for High-Efficiency Particulate Air. It can drastically reduce the spread of allergens and bacteria in airflow, such as pollen, smog, and viruses. The HEPA filter was originally developed for NASA, and it been widely used in hospitals, to keep the air clean and harmless.

Washable Pre-filter.
Uses micron mesh filter, effectively block 2.5mm fibrous particulate matter. It can be cleaned easily up to ten thousand times, preventing large particles such as pet fur, dander, and coarse dust, etc.

App TESLA Smart.
Easy control from anywhere provided by the mobile app. Makes life easier by setting up automations and connecting to the TESLA Smart product ecosystem.

Air fresh as after a storm.
While taking a deep breath of fresh air is a matter of course in nature, it is less so in our apartments or offices. However, with the new TESLA Smart Air Purifier, you can enjoy fresh air anywhere! Thanks to its ionizer that creates healthy anions, the air in your office or bedroom will be as healthy as if a storm has just passed through it.

Pollen and dust stand no chance.
The base part of the purifier is formed by its multi-layered HEPA filter which captures particles up to 100 times smaller than human hair. For those interested in numbers: the filter captures 99% of particles up to 0,3 micrometers in size. Pollen and dust stand no chance, which is great news especially for asthmatics and individuals suffering from allergies.

The purifier comes with an automatic and a manual mode.
The app allows you to try different settings and choose which one suits you the best. Or leave it up to the purifier. It is equipped with an air quality sensor that monitors the conditions in the room and adjusts the performance accordingly. Then you don"t need to worry about a thing and just enjoy the fresh air. You can also connect multiple devices to one phone in this way, even of the same type. Your Wi-Fi must be set to 2.4 GHz to ensure correct pairing. The device is powered by a cable.

UV light eliminates toxic substances.
The UV lamp, which is a part of the purifier, takes care of common viruses and bacteria. In combination with a titanium dioxide grid, it can also eliminate toxic substances such as formaldehyde, toluene or benzene which are commonplace in our households.

Prepare for Installation / Reset

Please read the user manual before installing the product.

In order to include (add) a Z-Wave device to a network it must be in factory default state. Please make sure to reset the device into factory default. You can do this by performing an Exclusion operation as described below in the manual. Every Z-Wave controller is able to perform this operation however it is recommended to use the primary controller of the previous network to make sure the very device is excluded properly from this network.

Safety Warning for Mains Powered Devices

ATTENTION: only authorized technicians under consideration of the country-specific installation guidelines/norms may do works with mains power. Prior to the assembly of the product, the voltage network has to be switched off and ensured against re-switching.

Inclusion/Exclusion

On factory default the device does not belong to any Z-Wave network. The device needs to be added to an existing wireless network to communicate with the devices of this network. This process is called Inclusion.

Devices can also be removed from a network. This process is called Exclusion. Both processes are initiated by the primary controller of the Z-Wave network. This controller is turned into exclusion respective inclusion mode. Inclusion and Exclusion is then performed doing a special manual action right on the device.

Quick trouble shooting

Here are a few hints for network installation if things dont work as expected.

  1. Make sure a device is in factory reset state before including. In doubt exclude before include.
  2. If inclusion still fails, check if both devices use the same frequency.
  3. Remove all dead devices from associations. Otherwise you will see severe delays.
  4. Never use sleeping battery devices without a central controller.
  5. Dont poll FLIRS devices.
  6. Make sure to have enough mains powered device to benefit from the meshing
